Xzavian Brandon's father, David Brandon, played linebacker for the Atlanta Falcons, and Xzavian has been immersed in the football culture since he was born on August 7, 1990.
Xzavian Brandon attended Northview High School where he led the Titans with 26 receptions for 493 yards and 5 touchdowns. Due to this record, Brandon twice earned first team All-North Fulton honors. He was also a 2006 Super 11 honorable mention choice.
After considering offers from Ball State, Mississippi State, Ohio, Tulane, UAB, and Washington State, Xzavian Brandon selected the University of Minnesota.
In 2008, Xzavian Brandon made a strong point for playing time before suffering a season-ending back injury. He appeared in four games but did not record any statistics, earning his first letter. In 2009, he redshirted while recovering from knee injury. He is expected to contribute to the receiving corps in 2010. Brandon did not play in 2010 due to a knee injury.
