Gopher Defensive End William Brody was born December 28, 1985 in Garfield Heights, Illinois. He graduated from Benedictine High School in Ohio in 2004 where he was coached by football coach Art Bortnick. William Brody helped lead Benedictine to a 14-1 record and state championship his senior season and was named first-team all-state, all-city, all-county, all-area and was named to the “Best of the Best” Northeast Ohio Team. In his high school career, William Brody registered 29 career sacks. As a senior, he made 100 tackles, 13 sacks, five tackles-for-loss, three pass breakups, three forced fumbles and one interception. He was regarded as one of the best defensive ends Benedictine has ever seen.
William Brody came to the University of Minnesota as a scholar-athlete award winner and redshirted his first year and did not see any playing time in his freshman season. As a sophomore, he played in 18 plays with the Gophers, all during the win over Temple on September 16th.
During Brody's 2007 Gopher football junior season, he appeared in 11 of 12 games. Throughout the season, Brody had 12 tackles including eight solo stops.
When William Brody isn’t playing Gopher football, he also enjoys playing basketball and is rumored to be a great forward. Brody is majoring in Communications at the University of Minnesota.
William Brody ended his career with the Gophers in 2008, graduating with a bachelors degree in communications.
