TROY REILLY OPTED NOT TO PLAY FOR THE GOPHERS 2008 SEASON.
Troy Reilly was born June 8, 1987 to Todd and Laurie Reilly from Plover, Wisconsin. He played high school football for Stevens Point Area High School in Wisconsin where he was coached by Pete McAdams and was graduated with honors. He was ranked as the 39th-best tight end in the nation by Scout.com and was ranked as the best tight end in Wisconsin by Rivals. Reilly was named first-team all-state by the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association and earned all-city and all-area honors his senior year. In his high school career, Troy Reilly caught 47 passes for 774 yards including seven touchdowns, he collected 451 yards in his senior season alone.
Despite having other offers from Big Ten schools, Troy Reilly decided to join the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers. He redshirted in 2005 and made 2006 his Gopher freshman season. As a freshman, he impressed Gopher coaches during summer camp and played in all 13 games including taking 38 snaps in the Insight Bowl against Texas Tech. Reilly played in a total of 132 plays and earned first letter.
