Tim McGee is the son of Frances and Robert McGee. He attended and graduated from Ridge View High School in Columbia, South Carolina.

After high school, McGee played for East Mississippi Community College in Scooba, Mississippi. During his junior college years, McGee helped the Lions to a 4-5 record and collected 19 tackles, including 3 for losses during his second year.

University of Minnesota Golden Gophers football Coach Tim Brewster recognizes that McGee possesses the size and speed to be an impact player right away. Depending on how well Tim McGee does during Gopher football preseason training, we'll see how much play time he gets during his junior year, and first time playing for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers football team.

The former Gopher transferred to the University of Memphis to become a defensive tackle for the Tigers.
