T.J. Wentzel was born August 10, 1987 to Ted and Nancy Wentzel in Emmetsburg, Iowa. A 2006 graduate of Emmetsburg High School in Emmetsburg, Iowa Wentzel played football under high school coach Tom Steen. Wentzel was named to the 2005 Des Moines Register Class 2A All-State Football Team as a first-team selection at quarterback and was a first team all-district selection in baseball. In 2006, he was a Golden Gopher Football walk-on and was redshirted.

At 6’1” T.J. Wentzel just wants to continue his passion for football and finish his degree in elementary education.
