University of Minnesota Golden Gopher football player Steve Moore was born July 3, 1985 in Coon Rapids, Minnesota to David and Loretta Moore. He attended Blaine High School in Minnesota and played high school football under the direction of Blaine Bengals coach Shannon Gerrety.
In high school, Moore was named all-state, All-Metro, All-Northwest Suburban Conference and was selected as Blaine’s Most Valuable Offensive Player of the Year and Special Teams Player of the Year. Steve Moore has an excellent ability to read quarterbacks and was Blaine high school’s all-time leader in interceptions. Moore also recorded 102 tackles for his career with three tackles-for-loss and 19 pass breakups.
In 2004, Steve Moore redshirted with the Gophers football team and began his freshman year in 2005. Moore didn’t see any action in 2005, but was a scholar-athlete award winner for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers football team. In his sophomore year with the Gophers, Moore had the opportunity to play on the Gopher special teams and he saw action in 70 plays where he earned his first letter.
As a University of Minnesota Golden Gophers junior, Steve Moore appeared in 8 Gopher football games on special teams but did not record any statistics. However, he did earn his second letter.
Moore is excited to return for his senior 2008 Gopher football season and says the Gopher Nation philosophy is contagious as he looks forward to an increased amount of Gopher fan support.
After earning his third letter in football, Steve Moore graduated as a Gopher with a degree in kinesiology.
