Sam Maresh was born April 26, 1989. His brother, Mike, is a senior starter for the North Dakota State Bisons.

Sam Maresh graduated from Champlin Park High School. During his high school years, Maresh totaled 99 tackles, two sacks, three interceptions and two fumble recoveries.

Additionally, Sam Maresh was one of the state’s top wrestlers. He was a two-time Class AAA state wrestling champion and was ranked No. 1 in the state at 285 pounds.
