Gopher Ryan Coleman was born June 13, 1988 in Brookfield, Wisconsin to John and Julie Coleman. The 6’1” Long Snapper played high school football for Brookfield East High School under the direction of high school coach Joe Sciortino. Coleman was a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Honorable Mention all-conference selection as a center.
Ryan Coleman is also a great baseball player and lists beating rival Brookfield Central during his senior year as his most memorable sports thrill. He majors in kinesiology at the University of Minnesota.
Although Ryan Coleman did not see any play during his 2007 freshman season with the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers football team, he was still a scholar-athlete award winner. In 2008, Ryan Coleman became the team's starting long snapper. He appeared in all 13 games and executed 124 long snaps on the year. He delivered 76 punt snaps with just two blocks. He also made lone tackle of the season at Purdue. In 2009, he again saw action in every game. He was 119-of-119 long snaps for the season and delivered 71 snaps for punts, 31 for point-after-touchdown attempts, and 17 for field goal attempts.
