Sharpe originally signed with Auburn out of high school, but chose to attend Butler County Community College in Kansas instead. Then he transferred to Arizona Western College, where he was a standout redshirt freshman in 2006.
Rex Sharpe's time at Arizona was so successful that he was an NJCAA 2007 Preseason All-American choice for first team.
Now, the University of Minnesota will be Sharpe's 3rd college and he will finally see time as a member of the Big 10. University of Minnesota Golden Gophers football Coach Tim Brewster looks to Sharpe’s 2008 season as a time to build off previous success and contribute to the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers football team’s winning season.
