HAVILAND TRANSFERED TO TEXAS TECH.
Reid Haviland was born September 16, 1986 in Thief River Falls, Minnesota to Jim and Alicia Haviland. In high school, Haviland played football at Thief River Falls high school under the direction of Coach Jeff Mumm. Haviland was a steady running back for the team and averaged 10.5 yards per carry his senior year. In one of his best games, Haviland returned a kick-off for 90-yards in a game against Duluth East. Reid Haviland also competed in track and field, setting school records in the 100-meter dash and as part of the 4x200-meter relay team. He was co-valedictorian of his graduating class and a member of the National Honor Society.
With the University of Minnesota, Reid Haviland redshirted in 2005 as a Gopher walk-on and didn’t play his freshman season in 2006. He is majoring in economics with a minor in business at the University and enjoys being a part of the Gopher football team. At only 5’9” and 180 pounds, Reid Haviland is one of the smaller running backs on the Gopher team. His father Jim Haviland played defensive back for the Miami Hurricanes in the late 1960s and is proud that his son was part of a Big-Ten team like the University of Minnesota Gophers.
