Mike Henry graduated from Mahtomedi High School in Mahtomedia, Minnesota. He attended Iowa Western Community College soon after, but did not see any action on the field his freshman year.

Henry was a three-sport letterwinner at Mahtomedi High School (football, Lacrosse and wrestling) and finished his high school football career with 135 tackles, four forced fumbles and one interception. Henry played in three games in 2010 as a linebacker. In the spring of 2011, he was moved to fullback.
