Jeff Tow-Arnett was born November 19, 1986 and graduated in 2005 from Redwood Valley High School in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. In high school, Jeff Tow-Arnett competed in football, basketball, hockey, baseball, track and field and golf.

Jeff Tow-Arnett redshirted his 2005 Golden Gophers football season as a walk-on.

During the 2006 University of Minnesota Golden Gophers football season, Tow-Arnett participated in one game and was a scholar-athlete award winner.

Jeff Tow-Arnett's 2007 Gophers football sophomore season was a break-away success. He appeared in 10 Gophers football games, including 3 starts as left guard. University of Minnesota Golden Gophers football Coach Tim Brewster considered Jeff Tow-Arnett as an integral player who helped pave the way for 4 200-yard team rushing games.

Tow-Arnett earned his first letter and was an Academic All-Big Ten Selection. Finally, Tow-Arnett was a University of Minnesota Athletics Top-Five scholar-athlete award winner.
