Eric Decker was picked in the third round of the 2010 NFL draft by the Denver Broncos, taken 87th overall (23rd in the third round).
Eric Decker was born on March 15, 1987 in Cold Spring, Minnesota. He played high school football at Rocori High School (Minnesota) before graduating and joining the University of Minnesota Gopher football team in 2005 when he redshirted.
Eric Decker broke out in his freshman season with the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers football team by catching 26 balls for 378 yards and three touchdowns. He was a starter with the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers football team in three of 13 games. He is currently the second-leading active receiver for the Gopher football team in career receiving yards and receptions and hopes to contribute big in upcoming years for Golden Gopher football.
During Eric Decker's sophomore season with the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers football team, he started all 12 games and was named as the recipient of the Bruce Smith Award as the team’s outstanding offensive player. Eric Decker also had an amazing 67 receptions, setting the Minnesota Gophers football single-season record for receptions. He was a recipient of Academic All-Big Ten and earned his second letter. Additionally, Decker was a scholar-athlete award winner.
In high school, was two-time all-state, all-conference and all-area. Decker was honored with Rocori’s team MVP award as both a junior and senior. The lauded receiver is the owner of 2,156 receiving yards and 28 touchdowns for his career.
Eric Decker was also all-conference, all-section and all-area in basketball and baseball.
