Ed Olson is an offensive lineman for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers. Ed’s dad Ed Sr. played for the Golden Gophers from 1980 to 1982, although Ed had offers at Central Florida, Colorado, Iowa, Michigan, Northern Illinois and Penn State Ed Olson decided to follow in his fathers footsteps and become a Golden Gopher.
Ed Olson is the number 27th ranked center in the nation according to ESPN. He is also ranked number 6th player in the state of Minnesota according to Rivals.com. He also received three-star prospect rankings from Rivals and Scout.com. Before agreeing to be a part of the Minnesota Golden Gophers roster, Ed Olson played for Mahtomedi High School where he helped lead the MHS Zephyrs to a Class 4A state runner-up finish. He was the team captain for his senior season in 2008.
In 2009, Ed Olson was redshirted and did not see any action with the Minnesota Gophers. In 2010, he started 8 games at left tackle.
