Devon Wright grew up in Coral Springs, Florida.

Devon Wright attended Taravella High School and was named the Broward County Player of the Year by the Miami Sun-Sentinel as a senior. He was a two-time all-state and all-county selection. Devon Wright led Broward County in rushing yards as both a junior and senior and topped the 200-yard mark in four games last season. He rushed for 1,835 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2009.

Devon Wright selected Minnesota over offers from Boston College, Connecticut, Florida International, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Rutgers, Wake Forest and Wisconsin. In 2010, it will be Devon Wright's freshman season. He was redshirted during the entire 2010 season.
