DESI STEIB GRADUATED IN 2007.
Desi Steib was born on October 4, 1984 in Vacherie, Louisiana. He played high school football at St. James High School (Louisiana) before graduating and joining the University of Minnesota Gopher football team in 2003 when he redshirted.
Desi Steib fought his way to a starting spot in his junior season for the Golden Gophers, when he started the season opener at Kent State. Steib ended up playing 267 downs that season. The glue-like cornerback had his best game ever at No. 23 California on September 9, 2006, when he made seven tackles and recorded career first with a forced fumble and a pass deflection. Steib also played in 10 of 12 games his sophomore year, sticking with Gopher football despite not playing his freshman year. Steib looks to contribute even more as a senior this year.
Desi Steib had a great high school career, including an all-state selection in 2002, when he posted 62 tackles, including 44 solos in 10 games. He also intercepted eight balls and broke up nine more. On the other side of the ball, Steib made 61 catches for 1,117 yards and 16 touchdowns in his high school career. He also rushed the ball eight times for 71 yards and two touchdowns.
Desi Steib also was a basketball, baseball and track athlete in high school. He is a business and marketing education major at the University of Minnesota.
