Deon Hightower was born on May 14, 1986 in Arlington, Texas. He played high school football at Mansfield Summit High School (Texas) before graduating and joining the University of Minnesota Gopher football team in 2004.
Deon Hightower has played in 37 games with 17 starts for the Golden Gophers. The hard-hitting linebacker broke out in 2006, recording 74 tackles, 3.5 tackles-for-loss, two forced fumbles and one pass deflection. Hightower also appeared in all 12 games his freshman year, recording four tackles and one half tackle-for-loss. He redshirted in 2004 with the Gophers football team.
Hightower's University of Minnesota Golden Gophers football 2007 season was greatly successful. He made eight starts and appeared in all 12 games. Deon Hightower ranked second on the Gophers football team in both total (70) and unassisted tackles (53) and led the Gophers football squad in tackles for losses with 9.5. Due to his abilities, Hightower earned his third letter and was a scholar-athlete award winner for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers football team. Hightower's 2008, senior Gophers football season should prove exciting to watch based on his past performances.
In high school, Deon Hightower was all-city and all-area in 2003. He got a chance to play in the Texas Coca-Cola All-Star Game. His senior year was explosive, when he posted 60 tackles, four sacks, four pass deflections and three forced fumbles.
Deon Hightower was also a track athlete in high school and academic all-district. Hightower is a business and marketing education at the University of Minnesota.
Deon Hightower graduated in 2008 with a business and marketing education degree from the University of Minnesota.
