Damola Ogundipe was born on January 25, 1989 in New Brighton, Minnesota. He played high school football at Irondale High School (Minnesota) before graduating and joining the University of Minnesota Gopher football team in 2006 where he redshirted his freshman year.
In high school, Damola Ogundipe was ranked the 39th-best prospect in Minnesota by MinnesotaPreps.com. He was a two-time all-conference selection under coach Ben Geisler. The quick-footed running back also was a four-year letterwinner as a track athlete, as he holds the school record in the 100 meter dash.
Damola Ogundipe was also a basketball and baseball athlete in high school. He was an honor roll student. He plans on majoring on finance at the University of Minnesota. Ogundipe is a two sport college athlete as well, competing on the Gopher track team last spring.
During Ogundipe's freshmen season in 2007 with the Golden Gophers football team, he appeared in four games on special teams and as a reserve running back. Ogundipe was an University of Minnesota Golden Gophers football team Academic All-Big Ten selection and a scholar-athlete award winner.
