Curtis Hughes was born on October 12, 1987 in Chicago, Illinois. He attended and graduated from Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep Academy before joining the University of Minnesota Gopher football team in 2006.
Curtis Hughes played high school football at Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep Academy under Osei Agyeman-Badu. The sure-handed tight end helped his team to a 7-2 record on his senior year.
During his freshman season, Curtis Hughes did not see any playing time with the Golden Gophers football team. In 2008, Curtis Hughes earned playing time in 10 games and saw most of his action on special teams and in short-yardage blocking situations. Didn't record any stats but did have a 12-yard kickoff return at Wisconsin. In 2009, he saw action in 11 games, appearing mostly on offense in a blocking role.
Curtis Hughes is a wildlife fishery major at the University of Minnesota.
