Brandon Kirksey was born June 22, 1989 and will enter the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers football team as a freshman from St. Lous, Missouri. Kirksey graduated from Hazelwood East High School and was a top football player in the Suburban North League. As a stand-out football athlete, Brandon Kirksey established himself as a leader on the Hazelwood East football team. He recorded 69 tackles, 5 sacks, and 2 fumble recoveries. Kirksey's impressive abilities earned him first team all-state honors from the Missouri Football Coaches Association.

In 2008, Brandon Kirksey saw action as a reserve in 11 games and had eight total tackles on the season, while earning his first letter. In 2009, he saw action in 11 games, recorded 16 tackles, and three tackles-for-loss. He has become a regular in the Minnesota defensive line rotation.
