Gopher Football Regular Season Finale

By Gopher Football Tickets (11/25/2008 10:09 AM)

The Gopher Football team suffered a season ending 55-0 loss on Saturday at their final game in the Metrodome Minneapolis. The Iowa Hawkeyes showed up ready to spoil the Gophers last Metrodome game and it worked. The Gopher Hawkeye rivalry has always been intense, but this is the worst lop-sided defeat in history.

The Golden Gopher football team finished the regular-season 7-5 overall and 3-5 in the Big Ten Conference; a much improved season over last years 1-11 Gopher record.

Gophers beat Bowling Green

By Gopher Football Fan (09/08/2008 11:43 AM)

The Minnesota Gopher football team remembered how painful last season's one point overtime loss to the Bowling Green Falcons was and the Gophers were determined not to let it happen again. The Gophers made quick work of the Falcons beating them 42 to 17. It was a close game until the fourth quarter when the Gophers showed fans that they were indeed tougher than last year and had more stamina to bring home a victory.

At halftime the Gophers held a 14-10 advantage, but made quick work of four second-half Falcon turnovers to run up the score. Gopher quarterback Adam Weber threw for three touchdowns and 233 yards completing 21-of-25 pass attempts. The Gophers improved to 2-0 on the season and are looking forward to returning home to play the Montana State Bobcats.

Gopher Football wins season opener

By Gopher Football Fan (09/02/2008 10:25 AM)

The Gopher Football team beat the Northern Illinois Huskies at the Metrodome Minneapolis 31-27 on Saturday August 30th to win the first game of the 2008 Gopher season. The Gophers were excited to get out in front of their home crowd fans and show them that the team had what it takes to win games this year.

Gopher football tickets sold cheap before the game and fans that made the trip to the Dome were kept on the edge of their seats. The game was a sea-saw of scoring drives for the Gophers and the Huskies, but Gopher Duane Bennett became the hometown hero when he plunged in from the one-yard line with 22 seconds left to give the Minnesota Golden Gopher football team the lead and the victory.

Gopher Football Training Camp

By Gopher Football Fan (08/06/2008 10:58 AM)

Gopher football camp broke this week and the Gopher football team is looking better than ever.  Gopher players are only allowed to wear their helmets during the first two practices, per NCAArules so no real hitting has occurred, but the team looks fast and physically stronger than last year.

The Gophers will be donning shoulder pads Wednesday and Thursday and on Friday, the Gophers will be in full pads and in full-contact mode. Two-a-day practices being on Saturday and coach Tim Brewster will really get a chance to see how far physically this team has come. There will be plenty of competition for starting roles as well particularly on the lines.

Gophers Players Improving Strength - courtesy Gophers Blogger

By Gopher Blogger (07/16/2008 09:24 AM)

Article courtesy Gopher Gal a Gophers Blogger http://goldengophers.blogspot.com/:

I read an interview with Gophers Football strength and conditioning Coach Mark Hill last week. Hill was positive about the Gopher players improvements in the strength and conditioning area. Many fans, like me, believe that after getting beat up last year on the field, the Gophers need to improve greatly in this area in order to win more games this season.  A lot of the losses were close  and in order to make close games go your way, you need to be stronger than the other team. Mark Hill was reluctant to name individual players that are making the biggest strides in strength and conditioning, but he did mention Gophers Jeff Tow-Arnett (who was a walk-on!), Eric Decker (one of my favorite Gophers this season!) and Eric Small (a ferocious defensive tackle!). It will be an interesting Gophers Football season for sure. See you at the dome!

Former Gopher Ernie Wheelwright

By Gopher Football Fan (07/10/2008 08:34 AM)

Former Gopher football wide receiver Ernie Wheelwright signed a free-agent contract with the Baltimore Ravens this past spring and it looks like Wheelwright will have an opportunity to make an impact on the Ravens team. In fact, Baltimore is so impressed with Ernie Wheelwright that they did a feature story on him on their website. Check out the Ernie Wheelwright Baltimore Ravens story here.

Gophers Football fans will want to keep their eyes glued to the TV when the Minnesota Vikings travel to Baltimore for their second pre-season game on August 16th. You are sure to see former Gopher Ernie Wheelwright going long for a pass. Let's hope the Minnesota Vikings defense doesn't rough him up too much. Much success in your career Ernie, we loved seeing you play as a Golden Gopher!

Gopher Football Uniforms

By Gopher Football Fan (06/04/2008 01:55 PM)

Most Gopher football fans already know that the 2008 Gopher football squad will be sporting a new look with brand new jerseys and pants.  When the story was first released the Gophers modeled several pant jersey combinations for the media. Recently, the gophers created an online poll which asked fans, "Which combination of Gopher Football Uniforms do you like the best?"

Almost 40% of fans voted for a maroon jersey and gold pants. I guess Gopher football fans are true to the maroon and gold! The least popular Gopher uniform color combination? White jersey, gold pants. They may be the golden gophers, but we still like our maroon! I can't wait to see the Gopher team take the Metrodome field for the last time this year. By Gopher Football Tickets (04/30/2008 10:25 AM)

The Golden Gophers Spring Game last Friday night was a great success. The Gophers played 15 minute running time quarters and had a 15 minute halftime. Gophers quarterback Adam Weber led the maroon squad to a 14-0 victory at the HHH Metrodome.  Weber finished 10 of 14 for 65 yards with one passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown, but the real story was the strength of the Gopher defense.  The Gopher defense(s) created a couple of key turnovers and stops to keep the score low. Gophers hire Director Football Operations Dan O'Brien

By Gopher Football News (03/11/2008 02:52 PM)

As goperfootballtickets.com mentioned on February 26th, the Gopher football organization was actively looking to hire a director of football operations and high school relations from the state of Minnesota. The gopher football team announced that they have hired Dan O'Brien, Hamline University director of athletics to the position.

Dan O'Brien has served as Hamline's director of athletics since June of 2002 and is a lifelong Minnesotan, which is what coach Tim Brewster was looking for.  Many Gopher football fans thought Brewster would hire one of the top Minnesota high school football coaches, but instead Brewster chose O'Brien for the position.

Brewster said, "Dan is a lifelong Minnesotan with tremendous coaching ties to the region both as a high school and a college coach and with his experience as a college administrator I am extremely excited by what he brings to both aspects of this position."  O'Brien will officially join the University of Minnesota Football Staff on April 1st, 2008.

Welcome to the University of Minnesota Gophers, Dan O'Brien, Welcome!

Gophers hire Defensive Coordinator

By Gopher Football (03/04/2008 03:12 PM)

Gopher head coach Tim Brewster had several criteria when looking for a new Gopher defensive coordinator. Brewster was looking for a great teacher, a great coach and a great recruiter. Coach Brewster believes he has found those qualities in former Duke head coach, Ted Roof. The Golden Gopher football team announced that Ted Roof was selected as Minnesota's defensive coordinator for the 2008 Gopher Football season. The Gophers had one of the worst defenses in college football last year so Roof has his work cut out for him! Go Gophers!

Gophers looking to promote from within

By Gopher Football Fan (02/26/2008 10:30 AM)

Gopher Coaching BoardThere are rumors that Tim Brewster and crew are looking to fill the vacant director of football operations position with a Minnesota high school coach. The move would fit Brewsters vision of recruiting in state and building a Gopher Nation for the entire state of Minnesota, not just the Minneapolis campus. It would be interesting to see if Eden Prairie Head Coach Mike Grant would consider a position with the Gophers. He has always denied any chance of him leaving the Eagles, but if the right opportunity presented itself at the right time, this Gopher fan thinks he could be swayed and don't forget Ryan Grant, Mike's son, will be playing for the Gophers in 2008.

Gopher Football fans should expect a few new faces on the sidelines this year and not just with the Gopher players!

Gophers Recruit a top 20 National class

By Gopher Football Fan (02/07/2008 09:14 AM)

Yesterday was national signing day for college football and Minnesota Gopher head coach Tim Brewster lived up to his reputation as a top-notch recruiter by landing a top-20 national class that is heavy on help for the Gopher defense. 20 members of the incoming 31 Gopher recruit class, including all seven junior college transfers, will play defense.

One of Tim Brewsters biggest accomplishments was landing Champlin Park's Sam Maresh. The local Minnesota boy could have went to any college in the nation, but he signed his letter with the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers. "Sam Maresh is the guy we identified as the No. 1 most important football player to this program in this recruiting class," coach Tim Brewster said. Many Gopher fans will be excited to watch Maresh strut his stuff and be a part of Gopher Nation. Maresh will most likely be the starting middle linebacker for the Golden Gophers and will be the new face of this Minnesota defense.

Saturday August 30th isn't that far away. Go Gophers!

TCF Bank Stadium Construction

By Gopher Football Fan (01/30/2008 03:20 PM)

Gopher Football StadiumThe steel for the Gopher football stadium began arriving this week. The foundation work in near complete and it is time to start building up. The 8,800 tons of steel will be used to shape the upper bowl, suites and press box and support the huge state-of-the art scoreboard that will be the fifth largest of any venue in the country and the second biggest in all of college football. I can't wait to see the stadium start to take shape!

Coach Brewster Sighting

By Gopher Nation Fan (01/29/2008 02:02 PM)

Gopher Football coach Tim Brewster was the Grand Marshall for the St Paul Winter Carnival Grande Day Parade on Sunday. He was surrounded by maroon and gold fans and a University of Minnesota pep band. Marchers were handing out 2008 Gopher Football Schedules. Go Gophers!

Tim Brewster recruiting class rivals Tubby Smith's

By Gopher Fan N. Backus (01/24/2008 08:46 AM)

Tim Brewster is shaping up a great football recruiting class for 2008. Much like Tubby Smith over in the Gopher basketball program, the Gophers football team wants to be good in two to three years, and not just six win good, but eight, nine win good and a chance to go to the Rose Bowl good.

The latest addition to the 2008 commits is running back DeLeon Eskridge of San Mateo Serra High School in California. Adding players at the gamebreaker positions is certainly one of the most important things coach Brewster can do. Let's stock up at running back again! Thanks Marion Barber III and Laurence Maroney.

TCF Bank Stadium

By Gophers Fan (01/15/2008 09:41 AM)

I was at Mariucci Arena last Friday to watch the Gophers Hockey team take on St Cloud State so I had the opportunity to see first hand the construction of the new Gopher Football Stadium, TCF Bank Stadium. The football stadium is literally across the street from Mariucci Arena and although right now it just looks like a giant field of dirt, the TCF Bank Stadium will open in the Fall 2009. It will be first new Big Ten Stadium since Penn State opened Beaver Stadium in 1960. TCF Bank Stadium will hold 50,000 cheering Gopher Football fans and you can bet I will be there on opening day! Go Gophers!

Gophers Land Big Recruit!

By Golden Gopher Guy (01/08/2008 11:47 AM)

Four star quarterback Marqueis Gray is the newest addition to the Minnesota Gophers football team. He visited Minnesota in late September, but did not announce his decision to play for the Gopher football team until January of 2008 at the US Army All American Game.  Marqueis Gray will graduate from Indianapolis's Ben Davis high school this year.

On the Indiana top 15 list, Gray is ranked third. His addition to the Gophers makes him the 25th commitment for Gopher head coach, Tim Brewster. In reference to his new coach Grey said that "Brewster is like another player to me. He's a cool guy. When I went on my official visit there, they treated me really well and they kept in contact when I broke my arm during the season."

Marqueis Gray stats: Completed 73-of-140 passes for 1,113 yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior while also rushing for 603 yards and seven touchdowns on 127 carries.

I can't wait to see Marqueis Gray running the Gopher Football offense in a couple of years when they move to the new on campus stadium. This is the kind of "blue chip" recruit that can cause huge demand for Gopher Football Tickets!

Willie VanDeSteeg Arrested in off campus dispute

By Gopher Football Fan (01/02/2008 01:21 PM)

Gopher Junior Defensive end Willie VanDeSteeg was charged with two counts of fifth-degree assault after a squabble outside a bar in Biscay, Minnesota.  The University of Minnesota is holding off on any official comments until after Tim Brewster can review all the facts in the case. VanDeSteeg, 22, of Silver Lake, Minnesota, and Eric Stiles of Glencoe, Minnesota, allegedly caused "visible physical injuries" to two men during a fight at about 1:10 a.m. Sunday December 30th. I am sure this is not the way Willie VanDeSteeg would have liked to start the New Year. It will be interesting to see Coach Brewsters response and if the altercation will have any affect on VanDeSteegs' Gopher career.

Matt Carufel will transfer to Minnesota

By Gopher Football Fan (12/27/2007 12:05 PM)

Gopher Football RecruitingGopher football coach Tim Brewster announced the addition of Notre Dame transfer Matt Carufel who signed a grant-in-aid agreement with the Gophers. Carufel is originally from Forest Lake, Minnesota and played high school football at Cretin-Derham Hall in Saint Paul. He was rated as the Number 6 offensive tackle prospect in the nation and the Number 1 player in the state of Minnesota in the class of 2006 by Rivals.com.

Matt Carufel considered offers from Notre Dame, Florida, Iowa, Miami (Fla.) and Minnesota as a prep, but ended up signing with the Fighting Irish where he has spent the better part of the last two seasons in the offensive line rotation. Carufel selected Minnesota over Iowa after deciding to transfer. He will sit out the 2008 season under NCAA transfer guidelines, but will participate in the Gophers' 2008 spring drills, which begin in late March.

Recruit, Recruit, Recruit

By Gopher Football Fan (12/20/2007 02:07 PM)

Gopher Football coach Tim Brewster needs to recruit, recruit and recruit if he has any hopes of turning the Gopher football team around in the near future.  Brewster definitely will have his work cut out for him, but has already made progress selling top players on the University of Minnesota program. I am sure his top selling point is that the kids will have the opportunity to make a big impact right away. No high school student wants to ride the bench if they can start on a Big Ten college football team.

TCF Bank Stadium?

By Gopher Guy (12/07/2007 01:21 PM)

Just when I got used to calling the new Minnesota Golden Gopher Football Stadium "TCF Bank Stadium," there is a chance that the name will change.  There is speculation that TCF Bank will be purchased by Montreal Bank.  If this takes place, it will be interesting to see what the new name of the Gopher Football Stadium will be.  All I know is that it would be very difficult for me to go to a Gophers game at a stadium named "Montreal Bank."

Gopher players heading to Hawaii

By Gopher Football Fan (11/30/2007 12:34 PM)

The Golden Gopher mens football team may not be heading to a bowl game this year, but Minnesota Gopher football seniors Dominique Barber, Amir Pinnix and Ernie Wheelwright have been selected to play in the 2008 Hula Bowl all-star game. Recognized for their individual strengths, the three will be heading to Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii to play on January 12, 2008. Congrats Gophers seniors, make us Gopher football fans proud.

The Sporting News honors 3 Gopher Freshman

By Gopher Football Tickets (11/29/2007 05:30 PM)

Adam WeberFrom Gophersports.com:
Minnesota quarterback Adam Weber, running back Duane Bennett and guard D.J. Burris were honored by The Sporting News today as the magazine announced its 2007 Freshman All-Big Ten Team. Minnesota's three offensive selections were the most of any team in the Big Ten and were led by Weber, who set school single-season records for passing yards (2,895), completions (258), touchdown passes (24) and total offense (3,512) during the 2007 season.

Gophers end season with 1-11 record

By Gopher Press Coverage (11/21/2007 08:24 AM)

Tim Brewster knows there's no way to hide from the fact that his first year as the Gopher Football head coach will be known in the Gophers' record books as the worst season in wins and losses in program history.

His 1-11 record stands alone. Brewster's 2007 team replaces Joe Salem's 1-10 team in 1983 as the Gophers team with the most losses. The Gophers also went winless (0-8) in the Big Ten for the first time since 1983.

Year 1 under Tim Brewster seems like a huge disappointment, especially considering how high he raised expectations after taking over for Glen Mason in January. Brewster's future now will take shape on national signing day in February with possibly one of the best recruiting classes Minnesota has ever had.

Minnesota Gophers lose axe to Wisconsin Badgers

By Gopher Football Fan (11/21/2007 12:21 AM)

The Golden Gopher Football Team lost its final game of the season 41-34 to the Wisconsin Badgers in front of nearly 60,000 fans at the Metrodome. Wisconsin got on the board first with a 29-yard field goal, but the Gophers retaliated and went into the locker room up 13-10 at halftime. The Badgers showed their true athleticism in the second half and stomped out the Golden Gophers hopes of winning.

Gopher Freshman quarterback Adam Weber, completed 21 of 37 pass attempts for 352 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. The final interception took the wind out of the sails for the Gopher team. Weber finished the season with a Gopher single-season record for touchdown passes (24) and passing yards (2,895).

Gopher vs. Wisconsin Game

By Gopher Football Tickets (11/08/2007 02:31 PM)

One of the best border battles in the nation could be live on ESPN this month. The Minnesota Athletics Department received word from the Big Ten Conference Monday that ESPN could televise the Wisconsin at Minnesota game on November 17th.  ESPN has elected to exercise one of its six-day options to determine which game it will televise at 11 a.m. (CST) on Saturday, Nov. 17. It is between Wisconsin at Minnesota or Northwestern at Illinois or Purdue at Indiana.

By being placed on the league's six-day ready list, Minnesota athletics officials will not be able to announce the kickoff time for the Wisconsin game until Sunday, November 11th. The time will either be 11 a.m. with ESPN or 2:30p.m. for the Big Ten Network.

The battle for Paul Bunyan's Axe is heating up and Gopher fans will want to buy tickets early to get the best seats! Plan for the game to be at 11 a.m. and if it's not, just add some extra tailgating hours to your Gopher football day!

Gophers face Iowa on the road

By Gopher Football Tickets (11/07/2007 10:36 AM)

Minnesota travels to Iowa City, Iowa to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes at Kinnick stadium this Saturday, November 11th. This will be the Gophers' final road game of the season.

The Gophers and Hawkeyes will be battling for the Floyd of Rosedale bronze pig trophy. In addition to the trophy, the Hawkeyes are looking for their sixth win required to be bowl eligible and the Gophers are looking to upset the Hawkeye momentum and put a second "W" on the Gopher board. It will be the 101st meeting all time between the two border teams.

The history of the Gopher Hawkeye rivalry and the pig can be found on here.

Gopher Football loses at Metrodome again

By Gopher Football Fan (11/06/2007 02:22 PM)

The Minnesota Golden Gopher Football team dropped its Homecoming game to Illinois by a score of 44-17 on Saturday evening at the HHH Metrodome. The Gophers fall to 1-9 overall and 0-6 in Big Ten play. The game started off on a sour note as Adam Weber dropped back to pass, looking for Ernie Wheelwright on the left sideline but Illinois Vontae Davis defended the play perfectly and came up with the interception. Illinois built a 34-10 halftime lead and never even gave the Gophers a chance. The good news for Gopher Football fans? The season is almost over.

Gopher Illinois Homecoming Game

By Gopher Blogger (11/01/2007 10:37 AM)

This weekends Gopher Illinois game is BIG for so many reasons. For starters, it's homecoming and every football fan or college student knows how important the homecoming football game is. Second, the Gophers really need a win. With a pathetic 1-8 record, the Gopher football team needs a win now more than ever. Third, Illinois is Coach Tim Brewsters' alma mater. Anyone who thinks this game doesn't have extra meaning for him is crazy. That trifecta of reasons could be enough to push the Gophers to a victory.

This years University of Minnesota homecoming theme is "Golden Oldies" - let's hope the Gophers can step up and play like the old time gridiron Gophers.

Gophers lose to Michigan on the road

By Gopher Football Fan (10/30/2007 12:27 PM)

The University of Minnesota football team suffered another loss on Saturday to No. 19 Michigan. The road game started well for the Gophers as they jumped to a 10-0 lead thanks to a field goal and a 41-yard fumble returned for a touchdown by Dom Barber. The game went downhill after that as the Gopher offense looked weak and the defense petered out giving up 34 unanswered points. The final score Gophers 10, Michigan 34. Michigan claimed "the Little Brown Jug" for the second year in a row.

Minnesota will be back in action when the Gophers face Illinois on Saturday, November 3 at 7 p.m. at the Metrodome. That game will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network. If you don't have the Network, be sure you buy your Gophers tickets from GopherFootballTickets.com !

Season Almost Over

By Gopher Guy (10/21/2007 09:42 PM)

It is becoming increasingly difficult to be a fan of my beloved Minnesota Golden Gopher Football team.  Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, the Gophers lost to North Dakota State at the dome yesterday.  The good news is that the season is almost over and there are only two more Gopher Football home games remaining on the schedule.  Both games are against solid Big Ten teams that have something to play for.  I just hope that my favorite college football team canput on their "Big Girl" underpants and play the role of spoiler when they line up against Illinois and Wisconsin.

You can't watch the games on TV so you should grab some Gopher Football Tickets and head down to the HHH Metrodome for some college football action this fall.  Maybe Tim Brewster and the boys will turn it around.

Gophers Lose to Indiana, Look to the Wildcats for a Win

By Gopher Football Tickets (10/10/2007 06:34 PM)

The Golden Gopher Football team lost big to Indiana 20-40. The loss puts the Gophers at a depressing 1-5 record. Adam Weber threw for 275 yards and a touchdown and ran for another to lead Minnesota's offensive effort. However, his two interceptions proved costly and led to two Hoosier touchdowns. The Indiana Hoosier offense was just two much for the Gopher defense who gave up 228 yards rushing and 235 yards passing.

The Golden Gophers travel to Evanston, Illinois to face the Northwestern Wildcats (3-3) Saturday.  It will be the first meeting between the Gophers and Wildcats in three years. Northwestern is a solid team, but the Gophers have a chance if they can control turnovers and stop the Wildcat run.

Gophers Lose to Purdue, Look ahead to Ohio

By Gopher Football Tickets (09/27/2007 02:14 PM)

The Minnesota Golden Gophers football team lost another tough battle at the Metrodome on Saturday. Falling 31 to 45 to the Purdue Boilermakers was a real morale killer for Gopher football fans. It was coach Brewster's first look at Big Ten competition and it just didn't look like the team was ready in the first half.  Whatever was said in the locker room at halftime definitely put spark in their souls because the Gophers came out with a vengeance scoring on four consecutive possessions, but it wasn't enough.

This Gopher team has the potential to make big plays and put up big points, but they have to stop letting their opponents gets such a big lead. Next up for the Gophers is another Saturday night game vs. Ohio State at the Metrodome.

There are Gopher Ohio State tickets out there for under face value. Ohio State is ranked 8th in the nation and should put on a good show at the Dome.  It's a big sports weekend for the Twin Cities with the Gopher game Saturday night, the Vikings vs. Packers game on Sunday afternoon and then the Minnesota Wild finish up their pre-season Sunday night.

Don't Miss Gophers vs. Boilermakers

By Golden Gopher Geek (09/20/2007 10:55 PM)

I have a little advice for all of you Minnesota Golden Gopher Football Fans that are still feeling sorry for yourself about the Gophers losing last Saturday to Florida Atlantic, it is time to get over it!  The bad news is that the Gophers lost to a college football team that no one had ever heard of.  The good news is that the play the Purdue Boilermakers this Saturday at the Metrodome in Minneapolis.  The Minnesota Golden Gophers have not had a problem scoring but instead a problem stopping the opposition from scoring.  I am sure that fact has the high octane Purdue Boilermakers Offense drooling.  If you like to watch two college football teams march up and down the field and combine for over a 100 points in a game, this saturday's game is a must see!  Who knows, maybe this game will be the start of a long Big 10 winning streak that will culminate in a trip to the Rose Bowl!

We have lower level Golden Gopher Football Tickets starting at only $19 and Gopher Football Tickets on the 50 yard line for just $79!

Gophers Lose on the Road

By Gopher Football Tickets (09/18/2007 03:54 PM)

The Minnesota Gophers fell 42-39 at Florida Atlantic last Saturday despite freshman quarterback Adam Weber passing for 335 yards and four touchdowns.  Turnovers were costly and plentiful. Weber gave up four interceptions and the Gophers also lost three fumbles, including one by Amir Pinnix on 1st-and-goal at the Florida Atlantic 1-yard-line late in the first half.  The Gopher defense couldn't stop the Florida Atlantic Owls and 42 points was just too much for the offense to overcome. Next up for the Gophers is their Big 10 opener vs. Purdue Boilermakers on Saturday.

Gophers Win!

By Gopher Football Tickets (09/12/2007 10:36 AM)

Coach Tim Brewster pulled off his first Golden Gopher football victory last Saturday at the HHH Metrodome.  The Gophers managed to cage the Miami Ohio Redhawks after three overtimes. The final score was 41-35 and the Gophers couldn't have been happier they escaped the roller coaster ride of a game with a victory. After a battle of failing kickers, Gopher cornerback Jamal Harris made his second interception of the game during the third overtime battle ending the RedHawks' drive.  Amir Pinnix then made the final touchdown to win the game for the Golden Gopher football team.

Amir Pinnix finished the game with 126 yards on 28 carries, his fifth consecutive game with over 100 yards. Gopher Quarterback Adam Weber threw for 271 yards on 26-for-40 passing with four touchdowns. Weber also rushed for 97 yards and a score and recorded the 13th-best total offense performance in school history. His Saturday performance earned him the title Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week.

The win added some spirit to the growing Gopher football fan base and if the Gophers can put on a good show on the road in Florida this Saturday, I expect the evening game against Purdue on September 22nd to have a big crowd. Buy your Gopher Football Tickets today!

Gophers Lose, Look Ahead for Victory

By Gopher Football Fan (09/05/2007 04:48 PM)

The University of Minnesota Golden Gopher football team just couldn't stop Bowling Green last Saturday as they fell to a 32-31 loss in overtime. Bowling Green won on a risky two point conversion attempt that they made look like a walk in the park. The Metrodome was filled with nearly 50,000 screaming Gopher football fans. It was a sea of maroon and gold and it was great to feel the excitement at kick-off. Head Coach Tim Brewster hopes Gophers fans appreciate the effort that the Gopher football team put out and will continue to support the team.

It took Brewster a little more than seven months to generate excitement and support for a new era of University of Minnesota football, but the Gophers may have wiped it all away in the loss Saturday night. At half-time there were boos as the Gopher team entered the locker room down 21 to 0. Brewster challenged his team to play better in the second half and they did, but they still came up short.  There is no doubt that there will be less excitement this Saturday at the Metrodome when the Gophers take on Miami (Ohio) at 11 am. I will be at the game in my bright yellow Gopher Spirit t-shirt cheering my Gopher Football team to its first Gopher Nation victory. Join me and buy your Gopher Football tickets today!

Gopher Football TailgatingI just drove downtown Minneapolis and circled the Metrodome.  I was super fired up to see that there were already Minnesota Golden Gopher Football fans tailgating at the Metrodome.  It is obvious to me that the arrival of Tim Brewster has reinvigorated the Gophers Nation.  It actually felt like a college football atmosphere outside the HHH Metrodome.  I can't wait for the opening game at TCF Bank Stadium.  I can practically smell the brats and beer now.  GO GOPHERS!!!

Weber beats out Mortensen for QB job

By Gopher Football Tickets (08/29/2007 03:24 PM)

It's official, Adam Weber has been named the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers football team's starting quarterback, announced head coach Tim Brewster announced it Tuesday at a U of M press conference. Many thought the quarterback competition between Weber, a redshirt freshman and junior Tony Mortensen would go down to the wire, and it was Weber who gained Brewster's favor before Saturday's season opener against the Bowling Green Falcons. Weber is a more natural and elusive runner than Mortensen. The Gophers new spread offense favors Weber's running style, which most likely impacted Brewster's decision greatly.

Gopher Opening Kickoff

By Gopher Football Tickets (08/28/2007 10:26 AM)

Gophers vs. Bowling GreenKickoff for the 2007 Gopher Football season is just a few days away. The Golden Gophers have been practicing hard and are ready to take on the Bowling Green Falcons at the HHH Metrodome on Saturday September 1st at 7pm.

Bowling Green is coming off a 4-8 season, their first losing season in six years, but they are bringing brand new offensive and defensive coordinators to the Dome. This year the Falcons are a bit more experienced as last year they played the third most truest freshman in the country. They are still a young team, though, and the Gophers are ready to "bowl" them over. Last, year Bowling Green lost to both f the Big 10 teams they played (Ohio State and Wisconsin), but the Gophers lost to both of those teams as well.

The first game of the season is always an exciting one for Gopher fans, but this year should prove to be even more eventful with a new head coach at the helm and a motivated Gopher football team. September 1st is not a day to sit on the coach, buy Gopher Football Tickets and head down to the Dome to cheer on your University of Minnesota Golden Gophers!  There are awesome seats available for less than $25 per ticket so don't delay, buy Gopher Football Tickets today!

Gophers Workouts up to Brewster’s Standards

By Gopher Football Tickets (08/22/2007 10:45 AM)

With less than two weeks to go to the Minnesota Golden Gophers football team's season-opening matchup against Bowling Green, head coach Tim Brewster is confident his football team is on track in terms of preparation according to gophersports.com. Usually, coaches will feign that the team is inadequate in preparation before the season starts to get them even more ramped up. Who knows if Brewster is doing this to his team right now, regardless, his players can read about themselves and know that Brewster is complimenting their level of intensity.

Brewster continues to praise the speed of the defense, saying they have been "flying around" in workouts. He has also complimented the shape his team is getting in, saying they are in better shape every day. On another note, senior wide receiver Ernie Wheelwright continues to play well in camp. After a stellar scrimmage on Sunday, Wheelwright made a superb sideline catch Monday. Gopher fans will definitely want to keep an eye on this great receiver!
