The Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome is located in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. It has been the home of some of Minnesota's  most exciting sports franchises, including the Minnesota Twins, the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Minnesota Vikings. The University of Minnesota Gophers football team also has played home games at the HHH Metrodome. Today only the Minnesota Vikings call the HHH Metrodome home, the other teams all having moved to venues built for them.

The Metrodome Minneapolis was actually constructed under budget cost at $68 million. It opened on April 3, 1982. The Metrodome replaced Metropolitan Stadium in Bloomington, which was the original place the Vikings and Twins played. Metropolitan Stadium stood on the land that the Mall of America currently rest on. The Metrodome recently suffered from a collapse on December 12, 2010, due to a snow storm that allowed the roof to collect to much snow, thus collapsing the Teflon roof. It is currently under construction and hopes to be up by fall 2011.

The HHH Metrodome was named after former Minneapolis mayor, U.S. Senator and U.S. Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey, who died in 1978. The facility is good for myriad events, including stadium concerts, sporting events and monster truck rallies. Just one look at the HHH Metrodome Events Calendar makes it clear the not only is the "dome" good for lots of events it is used for lots of events from college graduations to Vikings Games. HHH Metrodome Tickets for most events can usually be found cheaply because of the large amount of fans the HHH Metrodome Seating Chart can hold.

Metrodome seating depends on what kind of event is on the schedule. For baseball, the Metrodome seats 46,564, but it is expandable for playoff games to 55,883. Football seating is 64,111 while basketball seating is 50,000. The Metrodome roof is made of two layers of Teflon coated fiberglass fabric. It is air-supported. The turf is made of FieldTurf, which is supposed to feel and appear more closely to real grass.

Minneapolis Metrodome parking can be accessed by surface lots around downtown Minneapolis. Lots that are west of Washington Avenue tend to be more expensive as they are closer to the Metrodome. Lots east of Washington Avenue are more abundant and cheaper but a longer walk to the stadium. Parking near the HHH Metrodome is possible it just takes some pre-planning.

There are many great Minneapolis Metrodome sporting events every year. If it is not the Vikings or Twins, usually there are special events going on like motocross races or even Rolling Stones concerts. Don't forget to check the Metrodome schedule regularly, because you might miss Metrodome tickets to a great event.
