Gopher Football 2010 Captains

By Gopher Football Fan (06/28/2010 01:04 PM)

The 2010 Gopher football team captains will be senior quarterback Adam Weber with senior fullback Jon Hoese from the offense and senior defensive back Kim Royston with junior defensive tackle Brandon Kirksey from the defense.

"The four young men our team selected to serve as captains are outstanding choices," Gopher football head coach Tim Brewster said.

With the 2010 season, Adam Weber will be the only three-time captain in the history of University of Minnesota football. Gopher football fans are hoping these captains can inspire the Gopher football team to work hard, play hard and win some games for the maroon and gold.

The first game of the 2010 Gopher football season is September 2nd at Middle Tennessee State, with the first home game the following week against South Dakota.

Gopher Football Spring Game a Success

By Gopher Football Fan (04/26/2010 03:05 PM)

The University of Minnesota Gopher football Spring game was a huge success at TCF Bank Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Gopher defense outweighed the Gopher offense, but there was plenty to be exited about on both sides of the ball.

Gopher quarterback Adam Weber passed for 144 yards completing 8 of 20 passes. MarQueis Gray was 4 of 7 for 66 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Running back Duane Bennett racked up 55 yards on 9 attempts and Duane Eskridge finished the day with 51 yards on 12 carries.

Linebacker Mike Rallis led the defense with 6 total tackles, including 3 tackles for loss and 2 sacks. Linebackers Spencer Reeves, Sam Maresh and Pat Sveum each racked up five tackles and Linebacker Keanon Cooper recorded the only interception of the game, returning it 19 yards.

If you didn't make it out to TCF Bank Stadium for the Gopher Spring Game, you better buy tickets for a Gopher Football game in 2010 and see what this Gopher team can do at "The Bank."
