Tim Brewster announced the signing of 25 new Gopher Football Recruits. A well balanced class of 13 offense signees and 12 projected defense signees.

"I think this is a very solid class from top to bottom," Tim Brewster said. "I think we filled some specific needs with this class. We were looking for leaders. We were looking for smart players and winners. I think we've really achieved that goal."

Gopher football fans can keep their "Brew Crew" t-shirts around a little longer. Coach Tim Brewster and the University of Minnesota have agreed to terms on a contract extension through the 2013 Gopher football season.

U of M Athletics Director Joel Maturi said, "Coach Brewster and I have a shared vision for the future of Gopher football. Tim is passionately committed to this state, this University and its football program. I know that he is working tirelessly to do everything in his power to help our program achieve at the highest levels."

Gopher football fans are looking forward to a higher achieving team and hope to have more victories to celebrate during the 2010 Gopher Football Season!

The Gopher Football team has hired Jeff Horton as the University of Minnesota Golden Gopher football offensive coordinator. Horton will be the fourth offensive coordinator in the past five seasons for the Gophers. Gopher fans are wary of so many offensive changes that don't give players time to develop plays and strategies from year to year, but head coach Tim Brewster said the transition would be very "player friendly."

"I'm thrilled to have Jeff Horton join our staff," Tim Brewster said. "He brings leadership and experience running offenses and coaching quarterbacks. His overall knowledge will help make this a seamless transition for our players."

Horton started his coaching career in Minnesota back in 1984 and has held various coaching positions with NFL and college teams including a 5 year stint with the Wisconsin Badgers.

"I'm really excited about the opportunity Coach Brewster is giving me here at Minnesota," Jeff Horton said. "I started my college coaching career here 26 years ago. I'm coming back to a great city, a great university and a program that is really starting to take off. I'm proud to be a part of it."

Three Gopher Football Players have been invited to the NFL Scouting Combine at the end of February to endure drills, tests and interviews to see if they would be worthy of an NFL draft pick. Wide receiver Eric Decker, linebacker Simoni Lawrence and linebacker Nathan Triplett will each take part in the NFL Scouting Combine. Congrats Gopher players! Make us proud!
